What was your admissions process to Summer on the Hill like?
I was in the inaugural class for Summer on the Hill. Summer on the Hill came to my elementary schools of PS 122, renamed PS 310, and picked out the top students in the school to be a part of the program.
Was there a particular teacher or administrator who stands out for you?
Dr. McIvor and Ms. McLean
What would your adult self tell your young self about taking a leap of faith with Summer on the Hill?
Be present and take everything I can out of the experience to learn about myself. Explore all of the possibilities.
What is your favorite memory at Summer on the Hill?
I loved learning. I loved Greek mythology class our very first year, I vividly remember that. I love gymnastics, I LOVED going to Dorr!
What advice would you give current Summer on the Hill students?
The same advice I would give my younger self, take this experience as a huge learning playground. Explore things you never thought to explore, be present, and keep in touch with your classmates!
Anything else you would like to tell us?
I am the first woman and first African American woman resident DJ at Madison Square Garden and I assist with the musical direction of the NY Knicks. I was a professional dancer my entire life, in Summer on the Hill as well. I just stopped dancing professionally 3 years ago and have danced all over the world. I’ve been DJing for over 7 years and I am a music curator for top brands, companies, and celebrities. I’ve musically directed, hosted and DJed for clients such as Shape Magazine, The National Retail Federation, Beautycon, Essence Magazine and many more.
